This is a clip from the film 'Think Like A Man Too'. Barthes' theory of action and enigma codes could be applied when the group of males walk into a jail cell, is gets the audience to wonder what they done wrong to end up in the cell. Also, the idea that they're not all dressed in suitable clothing also makes the audience think 'what could they have done so bad to end up in jail when looking like that?' Additionally, when Kevin Hart's voice becomes squeaky when trying to make an announcement in front of the other criminals, it makes the audience think 'if he's willing to make the announcement why does he seem nervous? Todorov's theory of equilibrium could also be applied as there is an existing state of harmony which is the jail cell before the protagonists walked in. This then leads to a disequilibrium as the protagonists walk in and decide to make an uncalled for announcement which winds the rest up and leads to one of the jail mates trying to attack Kevin Hart. We do not then get to see the new equilibrium in the clip.
This is a clip from the TV episode 'The Big Bang Theory'. Barthes' theory of action and enigma codes could be applied to this clip as the idea of Sheldon questioning the female on the other side of the phone and following a flow chart would get the audience to think 'why is he following the flow chart?' 'why is the flow chart so important to follow?'. Also, as the flow chart is easily changed it makes the audience think 'what does the flow chart signify?' 'is it as important as it seems?' Todorov's theory of equilibrium could also be applied as the existing state of harmony is when the actors are together having a discussion. The disequilibrium would be interpreted when Sheldon gets stuck in a loop when following the flow chart. This is then solved when his friend changes the flow chart to help Sheldon out. Propp's theory of character however cannot be applied.
This music video produced by Benny Boom has a narrative which is similar to a short movie. Firstly, Barthes' theory of enigma code gets the audience wondering, 'why is he playing his supposedly girlfriend?'. The thoery of equilibrium by Todorov could also be applied as there is a disequilibrium. The audience aren't shown the equilibrium, the video just starts with a girl telling the protagonist, August Alsina to call him. August Alsina then has flashbacks of him and his 'girlfriend' alongside shares memories with Nicki Minaj by taking photos together. The problem arises when he gets a call from the female from the beginning. This causes distress for Nicki Minaj. The problem is then solved when August Alsina sends a table full of roses to her place as a surprise.
