Your preliminary exercise involves filming and editing a character opening a door, crossing a room and sitting down in a chair opposite another character, with whom she/he then exchanges a couple of lines of dialogue.
This task should demonstrate match on action, shot/reverse shot and the 180-degree rule.

I had worked with Abdishakur, Daine and Shanara. Our preliminary exercise was of a box which contained some goods which wasn't revealed to the audience but the two actors (Daine and Shanara) were aware of the goods. They had a discussion about the worth Daine should be paid for handling these goods. They come to a disagreement and as Daine gets up to leave Shanara then fixes the issue leading to an agreement.
WWW: We had organised the pre-production well in terms of sharing responsibilities. Everybody had something to do and wasn't left out and neither was anybody stuck with all the work. We had created tension as the goods in the box wasn't revealed to the audience but the characters were aware of it. There was a light shining out of the box which got the audience thinking 'what could possibly be in there?' Additionally, the narrative of our exercise was successful as it was easy to get done in the limited time we had.
EBI: Due to the difficulties we experienced with the footage, we had to record it all again. This meant that we had to find new setting and try perfect the lighting. however because we couldn't get the best and suitable lighting we had to settle with what we had. This created a change when it came to editing, we had to make the whole clip black and white so it didn't look badly recorded when coming to watch it. Also, because of the difficulties we experienced, we had to rush with the filming which was the reason why the 180-degree rule wasn't included in our clip. In order for a successful piece of work, we should check to see if the equipment is working and is in best condition so we don't experience the same problems as we did before.
