Audience focus group preparation. (Bush)

Your pitch needs to include the following:

A clear explanation of your idea, possibly referencing other programmes/films

Details from the brief: characters, narrative themes and location Why your idea might appeal to the key 15-35 year old audience demographic
Scheduling details - when it might be broadcast and on which channel

Full narrative-
A 14 year old boy (Ayden) lives with only his mother in a council estate in West London. He is brought up around gangs and violence. By his aura, the local gangsters observed him from the age of 14 till 15 considering to take him on as a part of their gang. He declined the offer to help serve drugs to the local drug users due to the fact he is the only son and doesn't want to let his mother down. A few months before Ayden's 16th birthday, his mother had been diagnosed with cancer and the treatment to cure her was quite pricey. Ayden saw this as an opportunity to step up and be the man of the house and by this he needs some sort of income. Leading to Ayden approaching these gangsters and leaving with a job to sell drugs. However the mother is unaware that the treatment is expensive and thinks that it is covered by the government. Unfortunately, it isn't and so her son needs to be careful in order not to get caught. A few months go by and the protagonist is working extremely hard to make sure he's earning good money. Due to the motivation, the leader of the gang (Elijah) decides to take him for a drive to go pick up the re-load. This is seen as a privilege as not everybody gets to see the leader neither get to pick up a re-load so the protagonist is excited. The destination is quite far and so a discussion is held between the 2. During the discussion there is some banter and as a laugh is influenced, Ayden's hand lands onto Elijah's lap, not knowing it would cause a problem. This leads to the disequilibrium which is the gangster getting angry as he isn't being taken seriously and so starts threatening the boy and shouting whilst driving back to the estate. Where the whole gang is, he parks the car and gets out and drags the boy out too and tells the whole gang how he wasn't being taken seriously. As the gang don't want to stop earning money, they agree to abuse the protagonist. In order to create suspense, there will be no shot of the protagonist getting abused, the couple of last shots will consist of him getting threatened by a group of boys, a black out and then a shot of flashing lights of an ambulance to end it.

The idea of the location and the theme is influenced by the programmes Youngers and Top Boy alongside the film 'iLL MANORS'

Target Audience:

The target audience of our idea would ideally be males, women and those in the demographic group ABC1 all at the age of 15-28 year old. The psychographic group of our target audience would aspirers and also strugglers. Aspirers as a psychographic group would be interpreted as the target audience care more about how attractive a package is compared to the quality. Especially as the characters of our idea are teenagers and are interested in attractiveness rather than quality could create an identity with the audience as they could relate to the characters. Strugglers are inferred due to the idea of the psychographic group being heavy consumers of junk food and also goods such like trainers and the characters of the idea could relate.

Broadcast-

Will preview on E4 at 8:00pm for half an hour every Wednesdays. This time was chosen as the target audience will have settled down by this time after putting their younger kids/siblings to bed and this is usually the resting time for those of our target audience as it isn't too late neither too early.
